April 17, at 8: And, once you find a brand and style that works?
But talk about difficult to dress. I have a very skinny girl too. We have found a few pairs of slim jeans at consignment sales but even those fit baggy on her. Shirts tank-tops do have a wide neck on her and sometimes seems inappropriate, I make her wear a smaller sized tank top underneath. I appreciated your post the other day about how they are so different and if this will be an issue in the future. The only jeans that fit my skinny girl are actually from Justice— and they are literally the ONLY thing she wears from that store.
They can be expensive, though. We were lucky to get some, with tags, as hand-me-downs. Other than that, she wears jeggings and my mom has to take the waistband in several inches for her.
I saw the info on clothes for slim tall boys but what about pajamas — where do you go for those? So many are designed to be close-fitting, so that helps. Even elastic waistband shorts are huge. Maybe check out Lands End, Diane? My slim pre-teen boy just keeps getting taller and not one bit wider despite the way he eats.
I also have a problem with his shirt length shrinking up. I feel your pain, Terry!! I hit 6 feet tall in eighth grade and never had t-shirts that really fit well. I changed all that by founding TallSlim Tees, t-shirts designed specifically for tall, slim men. So when your tall, slim boy gets to high school, please check us out!
My son used to fit into the large Old Navy joggers, but has since outgrown the length of those. Honestly, for sweats and jogging pants, I typically just look for ones with functioning drawstrings.
I have an extremely skinny son. He is 15 so he wants name brand jeans, not walmart wranglers. Anyone have any ideas? We usually go to TJ Maxx, but I was wondering if there was something else out there.

I have also heard that Costco jeans work for tall, skinny boys, but I have not looked into that myself so I don't have the exact name, but I assume it's the Kirkland brand. Hooo boy, I hear you. My tall skinny 13 yo is now a 6'6" skinny 21 yo, and it is impossible to find pants. Land's End has boys' elastic waist pants up to size After that, we moved on to Levi's when he was out of kids' and a bit thin for adult.
When my son was in middle school and early high school, the cut worked for him. The runs pretty slim in the waist, too. He wears those now in a 30x36, but they're still a tiny bit short. Encourage him to follow a field that pay wells, as he will have to get bespoke pants as an adult.
Land's End has slim boy sizes: I buy khakis on Gap. So you can get a waist size that is not quite snug enough, but if you buy them in "Slim" they might fit. It took me a few tries to find the right combo of waist, length, and style, but once I found it, I just order new pairs online now. Old Navy might have similar. My son also likes to wear basketball shorts almost year round, and those have elastic waist so they are good.
I got them cheap at Nordstrom Rack! Like 'anonymous', I have used Gap pants he prefers the chinos instead of jeans for my very tall and skinny son. He's currently 6'5", lbs. I agree that you should take your son into the store to try on which style he likes, but you'll have to order online, since they don't carry the tall sizes in the store. The washes were trendy but not too expensive.
